Education Minister Rohit Thakur today inaugurated a newly constructed link road to Shawala village under Gram Panchayat Mahasu in Shimla district. The road fulfills a long-standing demand of the villagers, pending for over two decades. Thakur emphasized that roads serve as lifelines, crucial for transporting agricultural and horticultural produce to mandis.

He highlighted that road construction works worth Rs 400 crore are currently underway in the Jubal-Kotkhai assembly constituency. These projects aim to enhance connectivity and improve the quality of life for local residents. He added that various other development works are also in progress in the region.

Later, Thakur participated in the district-level Mahasu Fair held in Kotkhai. He praised the fair as a reflection of the region’s rich cultural heritage and congratulated the people for preserving their traditions. He noted that the state government has declared the Mahasu fair, along with Rathal and Rampuri fairs, as district-level events to ensure their proper organization and promotion.

Thakur also appreciated the participation of Thoda teams in the fair, calling it a positive step towards preserving this ancient traditional sport. He announced a grant of Rs 1 lakh to the Sheela Village Thoda Dal for purchasing sports clothing. Additionally, he assured to consider demands for a bus service and a sports hostel.

To support the fair, he announced a grant of Rs 1 lakh to the organizing committee and presented Rs 11,000 along with mementos to each participating Thoda group. Himachali artists also performed during the celebration.

The event was attended by Chief Media Adviser to the Chief Minister Naresh Chauhan, Zila Parishad Member Kaushal Mungta, senior Congress workers, officials, and other dignitaries.
