Minister sends off teachers to Singapore on educational tour
Education Minister Rohit Thakur sent off 67 teachers and officials on an educational tour to Singapore from Shimla today. While reiterating that the state government was committed to giving exposure, Thakur advised the teachers to learn from the extraordinary progress Singapore had made in the field of education and implement their learning from the tour in their schools.
During the Singapore tour, the teachers will receive training on modern teaching techniques from instructors from institutions such as Oxford and Cambridge universities. They will receive training on important topics such as ‘Strategies in Effective Engagement and Development’ and ‘Engaging Students in Experiential Learning through Inquiry and Problem-Based Learning’. The teachers will visit local schools to gain a first-hand understanding of Singapore's teaching methods.
It may be mentioned here that during the recent educational tour of meritorious children to Cambodia and Singapore, Himachal had signed an agreement with Principals Academy, Singapore, for training teachers.
After returning from this tour, the teachers will prepare a detailed report in which they will share their learning. This report will be reviewed by the Education Secretary.
Referring to the state’s fine performance in the recently released ASER report, the Education Minister said that it was the result of collective hard work. “The state will do well in the PARAKH survey as well, thanks to the hard work put in by all,” he said.
