The Shimla police have arrested four persons, including a minor, with around 10 grams of chitta (heroin) in two separate cases.
In the first incident, three individuals — Kshitij (28) of Kadiwan village, Akshat Chauhan (28) of Jarla village, and a 17-year-old minor — were nabbed in Umradwar village, Rohru subdivision, with 5.62 gram of chitta.
Acting on a tip-off, police stopped their car and seized the contraband during a search. They were arrested on the spot. Rohru DSP Pranav Chauhan confirmed the arrests, adding that a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, has been registered.
In the second case, police arrested Tushar Panaik (26) in Theog, Shimla, with 4.5 grams of chitta. He was intercepted while travelling in a car, and the contraband was seized during checking. The accused was immediately taken into custody.
Police officials said both cases are being investigated further, and strict action will be taken against those involved in drug trafficking. Authorities have reiterated their commitment to curbing the menace of narcotics in the district and urged the public to share information about such illegal activities.
The arrests are part of ongoing efforts to clamp down on drug smuggling in Himachal Pradesh.
