The Police have registered a case of rape following the death of a minor after she gave birth to a baby at Khaneri hospital in Rampur. Post delivery, she was referred to IGMC, Shimla, in a critical condition, where she died during treatment. “We have registered a case under POCSO Act and have started the investigation,” said Naresh Sharma, DSP, Rampur.
According to information, the minor girl had reached Khaneri hospital with severe pain in her stomach. In the ultrasound, it was found that she was seven-month pregnant. On the complaint of the father of the girl, a case of rape was registered at the Rampur police station.
On Tuesday, the minor gave birth to a child at Khaneri hospital. As her condition deteriorated after the delivery, she was referred to IGMC for treatment. She, however, died at the IGMC hospital.
As per the complaint filed by the father of the deceased, he had three daughters. While two are married, the third one was a minor. According to the complaint, the family tried to find out how she got pregnant but the girl did not reveal anything. The police have started investigation into the matter.
