Minor raped in Chamba

The police in Chamba district’s Tissa subdivision have arrested a man for allegedly raping a minor girl after befriending her on social media. The victim, a Class XI student, was initially hesitant to report the incident due to threats from the accused, who had recorded a video of the assault and blackmailing her into silence.

The accused’s harassment continued until the victim stopped responding to his calls, prompting him to share the video on social media. The victim and her mother then reported the incident to the Tissa police station, leading to the accused’s swift arrest.

A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sahinta, the POCSO Act, and the Information Technology Act. The accused has been remanded to police custody for two days, and further investigation is ongoing.
