Miscreants set 3 cars ablaze

Shimla, July 2

Miscreants set ablaze three cars near Jutog Railway station, 10 km from here, on Wednesday evening, causing panic among car owners. The cars parked on the roadside were completely destroyed, but there was no loss of life.

The incident took place past midnight and fire tender was rushed from the Boileauganj fire station. People gathered at the spot and assisted the fire brigade. The fire would have engulfed at least half a dozen cars if the fire tenders had not arrived on time. The cars belonged to Mayaram Nauutyal, Chandra Sagar and Dinesh Verrma. A case has been registered.

In another incident, a constable posted at the Rohroo police station in Shimla district was killed, when the car he was driving fell into a 500-foot-deep gorge near Bhamnoli on Rohroo-Summorkot highway on Wednesday evening. The constable, identified as Jai Singh (36), died on the spot. A case has been registered. — TNS
