A 76-year-old woman, who went missing from Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC), Shimla, on June 19, has been found dead in Shimla, the police said here today.
The deceased has been identified as Sanjogta Nag, a resident of Sankat Mochan, Shimla. According to reports, she had accompanied her daughter to the IGMC for a routine check-up during which she went missing.
Her family members had also met Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, following which, the CM directed the police to constitute a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to intensify the search operation. Sanjogta was last seen in the CCTV footage on June 19 around 7 PM near a building in Kanlog area. Since then, the investigation team had been actively conducting a search operation in the area. Today, the police team spotted a body of a woman in a nallah. Upon investigating, the police learnt that the body was of Sanjogta. The body was then taken to IGMC for postmortem.
Shimla ASP Rattan Negi said as per the family members, the deceased was suffering from dementia, which is believed to be the reason for her wandering off from the hospital.
