The Miyar valley in Lahaul and Spiti district has been cut off from district headquarters Keylong since February 26 due to heavy snowfall, leaving local residents without road connectivity for over two weeks. The prolonged closure of roads has severely impacted transportation services, creating difficulties for the locals. However, the Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board has restored power supply in the region, providing some relief to the distraught residents.

The temperature plummeted in Lahaul and Spiti following mild snowfall today, exacerbating the challenges faced by the local population. The residents of the Miyar valley are anxiously waiting for the restoration of road connectivity, which will enable the transportation of essential goods and services.

The Public Works Department (PWD) and the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) are working tirelessly to restore blocked roads. A total of 135 roads in Lahaul and Spiti are blocked due to heavy snowfall since February 26. While efforts to clear snow and restore roads are going on, the situation remains challenging due to harsh weather conditions.

Meanwhile, Lahaul and Spiti MLA Anuradha Rana called for urgent action to restore road connectivity. She stated that both BRO and PWD authorities had been directed to expedite the restoration work to ensure that the residents of the Miyar valley and other affected villages were not deprived of essential services anymore.

Anuradha said that the restoration of road connectivity was the top priority, especially in remote areas like the Miyar valley, where residents were dependent on roads to avial of basic necessities and emergency services.
