BJP MLA from Nurpur, Ranbir Singh Nikka, launched a sharp attack on the Congress-led Himachal Pradesh government, accusing it of stalling all development work in his constituency out of “political grudge.” Addressing the media on Monday, Nikka claimed that ever since Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu took office two and a half years ago, development activities in Nurpur had come to a “grinding halt.”

He alleged that projects sanctioned or initiated during the previous Jai Ram Thakur government were deliberately obstructed, depriving residents of essential infrastructure improvements. “Is Nurpur not part of Himachal Pradesh? Has it committed a crime by electing a BJP MLA?” Nikka questioned, warning against selective governance based on political alignment.

The MLA urged the Chief Minister to “honour democracy” and ensure equal treatment for all constituencies, regardless of party representation. He stressed that the state’s progress depended on balanced and inclusive development, free from political vendetta.

Nikka also accused certain Congress-backed panchayat pradhans in Nurpur of blocking or delaying the use of funds allocated from his MLA Local Area Development (LAD) budget. While stating that he had disbursed development funds to gram panchayats led by both BJP and Congress supporters, he claimed that projects in Congress-led panchayats were either not executed or progressed at a very slow pace.

According to Nikka, such obstruction was particularly harmful to rural areas that rely on timely execution of infrastructure projects. He appealed to the ruling party to set aside political differences in the interest of public welfare, warning that residents of Nurpur were being “unjustly punished” for their electoral choice.
