MLA Ajay Solanki refutes claims of Nahan medical college’s relocation
A political debate has erupted over talks about the shifting of the medical college in Nahan, with BJP State President Dr Rajeev Bindal and various organisations raising concerns. However, in a strong counter-statement, MLA Ajay Solanki has reassured the public that the medical college is undergoing expansion and not being moved out of Nahan.
Speaking to the media, MLA Solanki dismissed the speculation and termed it as misleading political propaganda. “Various rumours are being spread regarding the relocation of the medical college. I want to assure the people that the medical college is not being shifted out of Nahan. The only plan is to expand the institution, for which the college building will be relocated from Ward No. 2 to Ward No. 12,” he clarified.
He added that 161 bighas of land in Ward No. 12 have already been selected for the expansion project. “The primary objective is to provide better healthcare facilities to the people. The regional hospital will continue to function at its current location, ensuring that residents do not face any inconvenience,” he said.
Addressing concerns over existing infrastructure, he assured that previously constructed buildings will not go to waste. “Funds have already been utilised for the construction of medical college buildings, and these structures will be repurposed effectively. The city has also received approval for an MCH (Maternal and Child Health) centre and a nursing college, which can operate from these buildings,” he stated.
In a move to further strengthen healthcare services, Solanki highlighted the establishment of wellness centres. “A wellness centre has been set up in Yashwant Vihar and another one is being developed in Nahan. These will be equipped with doctors and paramedical staff, reducing the burden on the main hospital and ensuring timely medical assistance to the people,” he said.
Slamming his political opponents, Solanki accused certain groups of misleading the public for political gain. “Some individuals are deliberately politicising the issue to create confusion. I urge people not to fall prey to such false narratives. The government is committed to enhancing healthcare infrastructure in Nahan, not diminishing it,” he asserted.
The issue surrounding the expansion of the medical college has now taken a political turn, with leaders from BJP and Congress weighing in on the matter.
