MLA bats for Bharat Ratna for Satyanand Stokes

The All India Congress Committee (AICC) spokesperson and Theog MLA Kuldeep Singh Rathore has demanded the Central Government to honour Satyanand Stokes, an American missionary who initiated apple cultivation in Shimla district, with the highest national honour for his remarkable contribution in the horticulture sector.
In a press statement issued by Rathore, he said, “Himachal’s apple is known for its quality across the country and today it has a huge contribution in the economy of the state. Lakhs of people are associated with apple horticulture and its business” he said.
He also requested the state government to place this proposal before the central government.
“If Satyanand Stokes is awarded with the honour of Bharat Ratna, the pride of the country, it will be an honuor for lakhs of horticulturists of the state who are associated with this business,” said Rathore.
