Bilaspur MLA Trilok Jamwal today said in the Assembly that he was denied a room in the Himachal Bhawan in New Delhi though he had prior booking. “Instead of accommodating MLAs in the Himachal Bhawan, the General Administration Department (GAD) is accommodating officials. GAD officials do not even pick up phone calls made by MLAs,” said Jamwal during the Zero Hour on the last day of the winter session.

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said that it was a serious matter and he would inquire into it. “Officials should accord proper respect to the elected MLAs,” he added.

Jamwal also raised the issue of the flag code for the MLAs in the state. While Deputy Commissioners and SPs could have a flag on their vehicles, the MLAs were not allowed the facility, he alleged. The Chief Minister assured the House that the rules for the flag code for the vehicles of the MLAs would be notified soon.

Jawalamukhi MLA Sanjay Rattan urged the Chief Minister to increase the grant given under the MLA priority funds for people who had lost their houses in the monsoon disaster from Rs 1.5 lakh to Rs 5 lakh to Rs 7 lakh so that people could get meaningful financial help for the reconstruction of their houses.

Anni MLA Lokender Kumar drew the attention of the House towards illegal mining in his constituency. Chintpurni MLA Sunder Singh Bablu raised the issue of a Rs 18 crore fraud in a cooperative society in his constituency. He alleged that no action had been taken against the accused official and instead he was being given promotions.

Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri, while replying to Bablu’s charges, said that the entire working of cooperative societies in the state was being digitised and then scams would be checked.
