Theog MLA finds hospital construction work substandard, seeks report
Shimla, July 7
Kuldeep Rathore, the Congress MLA from Theog, noticed substandard construction work at Civil Hospital Theog during a surprise visit to the hospital.
The MLA not only noticed dampness inside the building, but also saw tiles starting to come off at several places. Upset over the quality of construction work in the hospital building, Rathore said the Theog SDM would investigate the matter and submit a complete report within one month.
“On the basis of the report, the government will take further action in this matter,” said Rathore, adding that there would be no compromise on the quality in construction work. “Action will be taken not only against the contractor, who undertook the construction, but also against the officer under whose supervision the work was done,” said Rathore. The building has been built at a cost of Rs 17 crore.
Rathore said the upcoming fruit market in Shilaroo was almost ready and the government would try to complete and dedicate this market to the people in this season itself. He said the inspection of the market would be carried out before the inauguration.
The Shilaroo fruit market is one of the few markets being built in the apple areas for the convenience of the apple growers.
Rathore said all roads would remain open during the apple season to ensure the produce reaches mandis in time. To ensure this, Rathore had recently held a meeting with the officials of the Public Works Department and National Highways Authority of India. “During the apple season, the Public Works Department has also been instructed to maintain even those roads which are not under it. Funds for the purpose will be provided from some other head,” he said.
