MLA, MP meet CM, submit development demands for Nurpur
Local MLA Ranbir Singh and Kangra MP Rajiv Bhardwaj met Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu during his visit to the Nurpur Assembly constituency on Sunday. They submitted a charter of demands highlighting the completion of halted development projects initiated under the previous Jairam government and restoring de-notified government institutions for the benefit of the public.
The MLA urged the Chief Minister to complete the construction of Nurpur Government Degree College, operationalise the Mother-Child Hospital, finish the Khajan gram panchayat bridge and complete the three-story shopping complex at Chogan. He also requested the allocation of shops at the newly built Nurpur Block Development Committee complex in Jassur.
Singh also appealed for the restoration of 16 de-notified institutions, including the electrical circle office at Nurpur, which was operational under the previous government but closed in January 2023. The list includes restoring government degree colleges at Baranda, primary health centres at Kherian, Sukhar and Fattu ka Bagh, and various schools and patwar circles in the constituency.
Additionally, Singh emphasised the need for strengthening district and rural roads in Nurpur. He proposed establishing a Police Line in Nurpur, which became necessary following the creation of a new police district in the lower Kangra region during the Jairam government.
The demand charter aims to ensure infrastructure development and public welfare in the Nurpur Assembly constituency.
