Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA from Bharmour Dr Janak Raj announced that he has filed a petition in the Himachal Pradesh High Court over the worsening state of healthcare services in his constituency. The next hearing is scheduled for May 28.

Addressing a press conference, Dr Janak Raj said he had repeatedly raised these concerns through various platforms and even in the Assembly. “Despite assurances from Health Minister and Speaker, no concrete action has been taken. I was left with no option, but to seek legal recourse,” he said.

He lamented that the Assembly, which should be the highest platform for addressing public issues, was failing to respond to urgent matters raised by elected representatives. “Unfortunately, our voices are being ignored,” he added.

Highlighting stalled development in Bharmour, Dr Janak Raj claimed that basic services were in disarray and the public was suffering due to a near-total collapse of the healthcare system. He alleged that several key health centres — including those in Bharmour, Holi, Mandal, Jagat and Garola — were operating without doctors. “Only two doctors are currently working across the entire constituency. Most government posts in various departments remain unfilled,” he said. Dr Janak also criticised Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu’s recent visit to Bharmour, stating that promises made during the trip remained unfulfilled. — TNS
