He said this while addressing workers during a convention of the CITU-related workers at Kalibari Hall here on Saturday.

‘Bid to implement anti-labour code’

The Central Government is trying to implement an ‘anti-labour’ code, which would include 12-hour duty, fixed term and multi-task employment, undeclared ban on strikes and abolition of social security on the pretext of ensuring ease of doing business. — Vijendra Mehra, State president, CITU

The meeting was held in connection with the preparations for a strike slated to be held on February 16 against the alleged anti-labour and anti-people policies of the Central Government.

He said, “The Modi government has completely sided with the capitalists. It is moving forward on the path of snatching economic resources from the common public and handing them over to the capitalists.”

“The Central Government is trying to implement an ‘anti-labour’ code, which would include 12-hour duty, fixed term and multi-task employment, undeclared ban on strikes and abolishing social security on the pretext of ensuring ease of doing business,” said Mehra.

He said the new policy would only benefit big corporate houses and capitalists while the poor would get poorer. He added that the Central Government had not increased the salaries of anganwari workers in the last five years while the salaries of mid-day meal workers had not been increased for the past 15 years.

Association leaders Jagat Ram and Balak Ram were also present on the occasion.
