Monoclonal antibodies administered to Covid patient at IGMC, Shimla

The IGMC Hospital administered monoclonal antibodies to a Covid patient here today. “We have administered monoclonal antibodies to a Joint Director of the Health Department. It’s the first time we have used the therapy,” said Dr Rahul Gupta, Deputy Medical Superintendent, IGMC Hospital.

According to Dr Gupta, monoclonal antibodies don’t let the virus bind to the cells and the patient will be negative for the virus within 24 hours. The state has received 200 injections of monoclonal antibodies as part of foreign aid. — TNS
