Shimla DC Anupam Kashyap on Sunday chaired a high-level meeting with sector officers of the district administration and senior police officials to review preparations for the upcoming Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha’s monsoon session. The DC directed officers to maintain strict vigil to ensure law and order as well as smooth conduct of the session.
The session of the Assembly is scheduled to begin on August 18 and will continue till September 2. Kashyap stressed that close coordination between the district administration and police department is crucial for the successful management of the session.
To streamline security and monitoring, the administration has divided the Vidhan Sabha and its surrounding areas into five sectors. Each sector has been placed under the charge of a designated sector officer. The sectors include: Vidhan Sabha Complex and Vidhan Sabha Chowk; Ambedkar Chowk, Chaura Maidan near Cecil Hotel; Vidhan Sabha Bifurcation Cart Road to Kennedy Chowk and Chaura Maidan; Cart Road; and CTO.
Shimla SSP Sanjeev Kumar Gandhi said a comprehensive security plan has been prepared. A detailed briefing has already been conducted with all concerned police officers. He assured that the police will maintain strict surveillance during the session, keeping in view both internal and external security.
The SSP further added that security arrangements would be implemented in coordination with the CID to ensure that no law and order situation arises during the Assembly proceedings.
