Kangra MP Rajiv Bhardwaj got visibly emotional as he listened to a brief by KKS Dadwal, the president of the war memorial society at Dharamsala. The MP visited the museum and was apprised of the future plans for the campus, which was now witnessing considerable footfall.

The society members requested the MP to support the institution, dedicated to the memory of those who had laid down their lives for the sake of the country. Members of the society narrated the problems being faced by them with a heavy heart. According to them, various government departments were not extending the kind of cooperation that was expected of them.

Dadwal wants the administration to speed up the updating process of revenue records that have been pending for long. Also, since the museum is a public place, the office-bearers said they felt the corporation or smart city should have adhered to their requests of installing a few streetlights on the campus.

Dadwal said it was surprising that veterans were not getting the due support from even the Forest Department, which is neither clearing up the pine needles on campus nor allowing the society member to dispose of these. Also, the department has failed to facilitate the society in cutting a few trees on campus for which the required permission had already been obtained, he added.

The society requested the MP to help them ask the PWD and HPSEB for an early transfer of a few abandoned built-up structures located on the premises. Rajiv Bhardwaj gave the ex-servicemen a patient hearing, assuring them that he would support their cause.
