MP Kashyap conducts surprise check at Dadahu Civil Hospital
Shimla Lok Sabha MP Suresh Kashyap conducted a surprise inspection at the Dadahu Civil Hospital in Sirmaur district, assessing the state of healthcare services and facilities. During his visit, he attempted to contact Health Minister Dr Dhaniram Shandil and Health Secretary M Sudha to discuss the hospital’s issues, but neither of them answered his calls.
The MP personally visited each ward, interacted with patients and inquired about the challenges they faced in receiving treatment. Patients and hospital staff highlighted the urgent need to fill vacant positions, citing staff shortages as a major obstacle to efficient healthcare delivery.
The Dadahu Civil Hospital caters to residents of 30 panchayats, making it a crucial healthcare facility for the region. However, the hospital is currently operating with inadequate medical staff, causing significant inconvenience to rural patients.
Expressing his concerns, Kashyap pointed out that during the BJP government’s tenure, seven doctors were posted at the hospital, whereas now only three doctors are available to serve patients. He emphasised the pressing need for the government to address this staffing issue promptly.
When unable to reach the health minister and secretary, MP Kashyap contacted Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr Amitabh Jain to discuss the hospital’s challenges and seek immediate intervention.
CMO Dr Amitabh Jain acknowledged the MP’s concerns, stating that he has been informed about the hospital’s problems. He assured that discussions with senior officials would be initiated soon to resolve the issues and improve healthcare services.
The inspection was attended by hospital officials, including Dr Ashok Thakur, Dr Pragati Gautam and Ward Sister Pramila Kashyap, along with local BJP leaders and party workers.
The visit underscores the growing concerns about the declining state of healthcare in rural Himachal Pradesh. With key government officials unresponsive to urgent issues, the incident raises questions about accountability and the efficiency of public healthcare administration.
