In order to facilitate quality research at the Himachal Pradesh University (HPU), a multimedia studio will be established in the university under MERU, said the Dean of Planning and Teaching Matters, Prof JS Dhiman, here today during the valedictory function of the Skill Development Workshop, which was organised by the Department of Public Administration in collaboration with the Department of Computer Science. He said the university will also purchase interactive panels, Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) software and more computer systems to enhance research.

The Dean of Studies, Prof BK Shivram, who was the chief guest, said quality research papers should be published in good quality journals by the researchers to highlight their research and contribution for the welfare of society.

Earlier, Prof Mamta Mokta, Dean of Students Welfare and Chairperson of the Department of Public Administration, welcomed all participants. She said technology plays a crucial role in research and for capacity building of researchers and, to enhance their knowledge and efficiency such workshops should be conducted.

Prof Anita Ganpati, Chairperson of the Department of Computer Science, said collaborative efforts promote multi-disciplinary research and are also helpful in sharing resources.

Prof Rajkumar Siwach of Chaudhary Devi Lal University, Sirsa, inaugurated the workshop and in his practical demonstration explained how digital tools have transformed the research process, making it more efficient and organised. He demonstrated how various websites, research platforms and cloud computing platforms can be used while pursuing research.

Prof Manu Sood, the Dean faculty of Physical Science, advocated that ethical research should be promoted in the universities because it ensures integrity, credibility and respect for human rights. He also discussed legal and professional compliances related with ethical research and challenges of artificial intelligence in research.

Prof Aman Kumar Sharma from Department of Computer Science demonstrated how ‘Mendeley’ can be used for managing references, generating citations and bibliography in various formats.

Dr Puneet Bhushan from Himachal Pradesh University’s Business School demonstrated how the ‘SPSS’ software is used for statistical analysis in research for data management predictive analysis and data visualisation.
