Music, yoga mark Freshers’ Day at NIT Hamirpur

The National Institute of Technology (NIT), Hamirpur, hosted its annual Freshers’ Day function, Aagman'25, on Friday, celebrating the creativity, cultural spirit and talent of its students.

Bhagat Singh Thakur, Superintendent of Police, urged students to maintain a healthy, drug-free lifestyle and pursue discipline alongside academic excellence. “Drug abuse is the major cause of failures in life, hence students should stay away from it,” he said.

The programme featured Himachali Nati, Bhangra, freestyle and contemporary dance, music, drama and a yoga demonstration highlighting physical fitness and mental balance.

Vikram (Mechanical Engineering) was awarded the title of Mr Fresher, while Rishita Singh Negi (Architecture) was crowned Miss Fresher.

Prof Hiralal Murlidhar Suryavanshi, Director of NIT, Dr Archana Santosh Nanoty, Registrar, and Dr Yogeshwar Dutt Sharma, Dean (Student Welfare), congratulated the students on their performances.
