Mutilated body found on Churdhar, suspected to be missing Panchkula youth
A severely mutilated body was discovered at Churdhar, the highest peak in the outer Himalayas, at 11,965 feet in Sirmaur district, officials said on Tuesday.
The body, found trapped between rocks and snow behind the Shivling, was discovered by three local youths from Nohradhar – Hansraj, Harish, and Tapendra – during a self-initiated search for Akshay, a Panchkula youth missing since February 26.
While official identification is pending, the body is suspected to be Akshay’s.
The search for Akshay, who went missing during Shivratri, had involved multiple rescue teams but was unsuccessful due to extreme weather.
Despite the failure of professional teams, the local youths' persistence led to the tragic discovery. Authorities are now working to transport the body for further investigation.
Confirming the development, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Sangrah, Sunil Kumar Kaith, stated, “We have received information about a mutilated body found in Churdhar, discovered by three youths from Nauradhar. The identity will be confirmed after a thorough investigation. Due to heavy snow, retrieving the body was not possible yesterday, but today, a combined team of police and locals is working to transport it to Nohradhar.”
