Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur inaugurated and laid foundation stones of development projects of about Rs 133 crore in the Nachan Assembly constituency of Mandi district through video-conferencing from here today.

Thakur dedicated the 17.5-km Hafwana-Panyas road constructed at a cost of Rs 8.65 crore under the PMGSY, the 5-km Jaidevi-Sianji road built at a cost of Rs 2.42 crore, the 6.2-km Piplu to Magar road constructed at a cost of Rs 1.48 crore, maintenance and tarring of a 4-km stretch of the Mandogalu to Fangyar road done at a cost of Rs 2.50 crore and a Rs 1.20 crore lift water supply scheme for Salwahan, Bag, Lahra and Lower Kot.

He laid the foundation stones of a building of the Atal Adarsh Vidyalaya at Gohar to be constructed at a cost of Rs 53.82 crore, an indoor stadium in Government Degree College, Bassa, to be constructed at a cost of Rs 6.98 crore, a Rs 15.73-crore lift water supply scheme for partially-covered habitations of Kanaid, Bhour, Durgrain, and Chhatter gram panchayats, a Rs 3.14-crore water supply scheme for Dhaban and Tanda, and a Rs 2.24-crore lift water supply scheme for Dhisti, Lot, Tunna and Shalla villages.

The Chief Minister directed the officials concerned that all developmental projects, the foundation stones of which he laid today, should be completed within the stipulated time. He said that the previous state government did little on the ground and in the last year of its tenure, it went on a foundation-stone laying spree in different parts of the state. The present government had completed all these projects.

Thakur said that the government had launched several welfare schemes for the weaker sections of society. He added that 5.70 lakh eligible persons had been provided social security pension at an enhanced rate.

Jal Shakti and Horticulture Minister Mohinder Singh Thakur said that even in the present Covid crisis, the pace of development was going on uninterrupted throughout the state. He added that drinking water supply schemes of Rs 176 crore and the PWD schemes of Rs 104 crore were being executed in the Nachan Assembly constituency. Local MLA Vinod Kumar raised various development issues of the area.
