The upper areas of Dharamsala today received first snowfall of the season. Naddi, Dal Lake, Dharamkot and Kharota areas wore a white blanket today morning. The first snow attracted tourists and locals to these areas as people enjoyed snow after a long dry spell. Triund, the famous trekking spot in Dharamsala, also witnessed its first snowfall. People posted photos of snow at Triund over social media.

The snow in the region raised hopes among the hoteliers of improved tourist footfall. Sanjeev Gandhi, a hotelier, said that tourists from the adjoining states would rush to enjoy the snow at the weekend. The snow also caused problems to locals and commuters. Long traffic jams were witnessed on the Dharamsala-Naddi road. Vehicles started skidding on narrow roads in Naddi area, which led to traffic jams. Many areas also suffered power disruption due to heavy snow and rain.

While the uppers areas received heavy snowfall, the lower regions of Dharamsala got heavy rain and hail storm. The intensity of the hail storm was such that many areas turned white.
