Nagrota Surian CHC sans regular doctor
It has been for more than two years, that there is no regular doctor posted in the Community Health Centre of the Nagrota Surian Block, falling in the Assembly constituency of Agriculture Minister Chander Kumar. The situation is the same for the Public Works Department which, too, is without an Assistant Engineer for the last two years. Situated on the banks of Pong Lake, the entire region is inaccessible owing to its geographical setting. Also, it is inhabited by a large number of Pong dam oustees who practically have no other means of healthcare.
“The CHC, which caters to more than 200 OPDs every day, is presently working without a permanent doctor. It gives a fair estimation of how serious our political and executive heads are. In spite of repeated representations and assurances, the miserable state of affairs continues to exist,” said Anil, a social worker residing in the nearby village of Sukhnara.
There are many others like Anil who too are desperately waiting for the appointment of a doctor on permanent basis. Sunita Devi of Barial narrates that Dr Gaurav, working in Ghat Jarot Health Centre, used to come here on deputation to attend a long queue of patients waiting for him till late in the evening. “He was quite popular among the masses, but since he has been posted somewhere else, we are in a miserable state. Doctors come here on deputation, but do not stay for long and soon get transferred. We are desperately waiting for the two sanctioned posts of doctors to be filled up soon,” she added.
In the thickly populated area of Nagrota Surian with no other alternate facility available in the vicinity, people are left at the mercy of winds. People would certainly continue to suffer till to administration wakes up from deep slumbers.
