Naik Pushpender Negi's remains to arrive at Sangla today

Naik Pushpender Negi (29) of 19 Dogra Regiment, hailing from Thamegarh panchayat in Sangla tehsil of Kinnaur district, succumbed to his injuries suffered after being hit by a tree while on duty in Assam. His mortal remains will reach his native place tomorrow. His funeral is expected to be held on Thursday with full honours. He is survived by his father Mahender Negi, mother Sarla, wife Kirti Negi and a six-year-old son Etik.

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has expressed sorrow over the martyrdom of Naik Negi. He said that the entire state was proud of his supreme valour and unwavering commitment towards the nation. He added that the sacrifice of the valiant soldier would always be remembered with the deepest gratitude and respect.

The Chief Minister prayed to the Almighty to grant peace to the departed soul and to give strength and courage to the bereaved family to endure this unbearable loss.
