Nalagarh MLA, wife among 188 infected; 4 deaths reported in Himachal

Four persons succumbed to Covid while 188 cases were reported in the state today.

Five bureaucrats were home-quarantined after Additional Chief Secretary, Power and Industry, Ram Subhag Singh tested positive upon his return from Delhi. His wife Nisha Singh, also an IAS officer, and four other bureaucrats have home-quarantined themselves as a precautionary measure.

The highest number of 71 cases were reported in Solan, 28 each in Kangra and Una, 22 in Hamirpur, 12 in Mandi, 11 in Sirmaur, nine in Chamba, five in Shimla and one in Kullu.

Nalagarh MLA Lakhwinder Rana and his wife were among the persons who tested positive for Covid-19 in Solan district today. Rana’s son had tested positive on Thursday. Thirty-six cases were detected in the BBN area and 13 in various areas of Solan. Besides, a fatality was also recorded.

The sample of a 55-year-old man, who died on Friday, came out Covid positive on Saturday. Medical Officer, Solan, Dr NK Gupta, said a resident of Phase 2 of New Nalagarh was brought dead to the community health centre, Nalagarh, yesterday afternoon. He had a history of fever for the last few days and had taken medication from a private doctor but developed breathlessness yesterday morning, after which he collapsed.

In Una, a 64-year-old Covid patient died today. The man belonged to Amb subdivision and was admitted to the Covid Care Centre in Haroli subdivision on September 2 after testing positive. He was a primary contact of an infected person, but was asymptomatic. He was also suffering from hypertension. The CMO said the patient probably had a heart attack.

In Kangra, an 82-year-old man from Gharthoon village, near Thural, was referred to the Civil Hospital at Palampur from the Civil Hospital, Thural. He complained of fever, diarrhea and vomiting. However, at the Palampur Civil Hospital, the patient died and later his sample tested positve for coronavirus.

Meanwhile, a 78-year-old woman from Mohun village of Hamirpur district died of Covid at the Medical College, Mandi. The sample of a 73-year-old man, who died at the Zonal Hospital here on Friday, came out positive today.
