A declamation competition was organised throughout the state by Vivekanand Medical Trust, Palampur, on the occasion of the 157th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda in which 30,000 students participated at 1,000 places and 144 students bagged different positions and received certificates, mementos and cash prizes in Palampur. Nandini Sharma of DAV Public Senior Secondary School, Bharoli (Nadaun), topped in the school competition and bagged the first prize of Rs51,000. She was asked to speak in the presence of Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, Education Minister Suresh Bhardwaj and former Chief Minister Shanta Kumar and thousands of people present in Palampur after she received the prize. Principal Surjeet Kumar Rana extended congratulations to Nandini, her parents and teachers for her brilliant success.
General knowledge competition
Students of Sacred Soul Cambridge School, Rod (Panjhara), participated in a general knowledge competition organised by the AVBP on the occasion of Swami Vivekanand Jayanti. Samridhi Sharma of Class X, Jatin of class IX and Priyanshi of Class XI won first, second and third positions, respectively. Winners were awarded at Government College, Dehri, by Health Minister Vipin Parmar. Chairman Jagdish Singh and Principal Tarsem Kumar congratulated the winners.
Green Field students bag gold
Students of Green Field Senior Secondary School, Nagrota Bagwan, won a gold medal in “National Children Science Congress”, which was held at Mar Ivanios College, Vidyanagar, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. The focal theme of this event was “Science, Technology and Innovation for Clean, Green and Healthy Nation”. The team comprising Upasna Sharma and Purvansh Kaistha had prepared their survey report on the topic “Activated Carbon from Rubber Tyres”. Both Upasana and Purvansh Kaistha won gold medals and participation certificates. Their guide Pooja Bharti was also felicitated with the “Guide Teacher” certificate. Principal Sudhanshu Sharma congratulated students and wished them luck for their bright future. Sharing her experience, Upasna said students from several states and other countries had participated and were given a chance to visit “Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre”. ISRO scientists present over there showed their project animations to students and also answered their queries. Vice President Venkaiah Naidu and Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan also met the students and motivated them.
Declare re-evaluation result: SFI
Concerned over the delay in declaration of re-evaluation result of graduation first year, the SFI unit of Himachal Pradesh University on Tuesday submitted a memorandum to the controller of examination. SFI campus president Ravinder Chandel said the students who had filled re-evaluation forms of first year are still awaiting the result and admissions. He said the SFI has been demanding early declaration of results for quite some time.
