A National Lok Adalat was organised in all Consumer Commissions/Courts in the state today under the patronage of Justice Inder Singh Mehta, president of the Himachal Pradesh State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission.

A total of 36 consumer cases were listed before the National Lok Adalat and 13 of these were amicably disposed of. An amount of Rs 1.01 crore was released as compensation to consumers.

Similarly, in the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, Kangra at Dharamsala, nine consumer cases were amicably disposed of and Rs 17,88,238 compensation was awarded to the consumers.

The District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, Shimla, disposed of three consumer cases and awarded a compensation amounting to Rs 30,11,500. Likewise, the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, Mandi, disposed of 10 cases and awarded a compensation of Rs 9,95,811 to consumers.
