Additional District Magistrate Amit Mehra on Friday said the Dr Yashwant Singh Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni, in Solan district had invited applications for the one-year Horticulture Technology Training Course (Self-Employment) for the academic year 2024-25.
This opportunity is available to the permanent residents of the state.
The training course will commence on September 16 at the university’s Regional Horticulture Research and Training Centre in Mashobra, Shimla.
A total of 20 seats are available for this programme.
Interested candidates must submit their applications on plain paper to the office of the Co-Director concerned by August 20. Interviews will be conducted on September 5 at 10.30 am at the Co-Director’s office at the Horticulture Research and Training Centre. Reservations will be provided to all reserved categories as per the norms.
Detailing the eligibility criteria, Mehra said candidates must have cleared matriculation or an equivalent examination. Applicants should be between 17 and 30 years of age, belong to a farming family and be interested in pursuing a career in fruit, vegetable, flower, mushroom production or beekeeping after completing the training.
Candidates from Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes or other reserved categories must submit a verified certificate, at least certified by an Executive Magistrate, along with their domicile certificate.
Non-employed candidates will be required to sign a declaration that they will adopt the training for self-employment purposes. During the interview, candidates must bring all original certificates, and a copy. No separate notification for the interview will be sent to any candidate, he said. Trainees will not be provided with any allowance during the training period, and accommodation will be the responsibility of the trainees themselves. — OC
