Dr YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni, will make available for sale over 1.80 lakh planting materials of various fruit species starting December 15.
The sale will take place on the first-come, first-served basis at university’s nurseries located on the main Nauni campus, Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) in Shimla, Solan and Kinnaur, as well as the university’s research stations in the state.
A range of apple seedlings and rootstock varieties, along with kiwi, pomegranate, apricot, peach, nectarine, cherry, walnut, persimmon, pear and plum plants, will be offered to farmers. The annual sale is eagerly awaited as the university’s planting materials are reputed for their high quality and reliable yields.
For the convenience of farmers from Lahaul-Spiti and Pangi, the plant sale at the Regional Horticultural Research and Training Station in Bajaura began earlier this week. The schedule for the annual fruit plant sale at the Chamba KVK will be announced soon, a university official said.
