Need to make e-governance project more effective: Guv

Governor Bandaru Dattatreya emphasised making the e-governance pilot project implemented by the Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (HPPSC) more effective through value addition.

He asked the commission not to compromise on quality as the project would be implemented in 28 PSCs of the country after being implemented in Himachal Pradesh.

While interacting with the chairman, members and senior officers of the commission during his visit to the HPPSC office, the Governor said the e-governance pilot project was given to the commission in 2017 by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, which was funded by World Bank and was to be completed in three years.

He said it was a matter of pride for Himachal Pradesh that the project had been awarded to the state. With the formation of the system, all processes of the commission would be made online.

Dattatreya appreciated the modernisation of the recruitment process and transparency being adopted by the commission. He said the commission had taken a good step of ‘one time registration (OTR)’, incorporated from April 2018, as it would be of great benefit to candidates.

He suggested doing a comparative study of good practices being implemented by other commissions and the state. On the occasion, the Governor released the annual report of the commission for 2018-19. Later, he also visited a computer-based examination lab. HPPSC Chairman Maj Gen DVS Rana said during the last two years, the commission had taken many important decisions which had not only strengthened the nature of work but also facilitated the candidates. — TNS
