Tribal Development and Public Grievance Redressal Minister Jagat Singh Negi today inaugurated two bailey bridges constructed at a cost of Rs 3.48 crore on the link road of Rupi gram panchayat in the Nichar development block of Kinnaur district. He also laid the foundation stone of the Majhgaon-Gurguri link road that will be constructed at a cost of Rs 1.15 crore and laid the foundation stone of a Primary Health Centre, Rupi.

The minister said that the state government was committed to overall development of tribal districts and the entire state. “Roads are called the fate line of tribal areas and the work on connecting every village of Kinnaur with link roads and main roads is being completed.” He said, adding that several important steps were being taken to ensure overall development of Kinnaur district.

The minister said that in order to provide land to landless people of the tribal districts, land was being provided under Forest Rights Act-2006. “To make the campaign successful, officers are being trained to make them aware of the nuances of the Forest Rights Act 2006. People are also being made aware to take advantage of this Act at panchayat level,” said Negi.
