Shivam Pratap Singh, Director (Personnel/Finance) at Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (HPPCL), is likely to be transferred to some other department in the next few days. The IAS officer is one of the three officials against whom an FIR has been registered in the case pertaining to the death of Vimal Negi, Chief Engineer of the HPPCL.

While HPPCL MD Harikesh Meena and HPPCL Director (Electrical) Desh Raj have been transferred, Singh hasn’t been transferred yet. Negi’s colleagues in the HPPCL and Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board Limited (HPSEBL) are questioning why Singh has not been transferred as his name also figures in the FIR registered on the complaint of Negi’s family members. They fear that Singh’s presence in the office despite being named in the FIR could influence the inquiry marked into the incident.

“If he is not transferred, there’s a possibility of the tampering of evidence. Also, the employees will not be able to give their statement freely if he is not shifted,” said an HPPCL employee.

According to sources, Singh has been told to not attend the office and is likely to be transferred in the next couple of days to ensure there’s no question mark on the investigations into Negi death. Apart from the police investigation, the government has also ordered an inquiry into the incident by Additional Chief Secretary Onkar Sharma.
