An 11-member team from JICA Nepal has arrived in the state on a four-day visit to inspect the work being carried out under the JICA Forestry Project. On Wednesday, the team reached the Project Management Unit (PMU) in Shimla, where they received a grand welcome. Chief Project Director and Principal Chief Conservator of Forest Sameer Rastogi, along with Project Director Shresthanand Sharma, welcomed the visitors.
The officials briefed the JICA Nepal team on the ongoing activities of the project in the state. Following this, the delegation visited the Radhe Krishna Self-Help Group in Ghanahatti, where they appreciated the pine needle products made by the group. The JICA Nepal representatives also toured the Hydroponic Pilot Project site in Nalhatti, a monkey sterilisation centre in Tutikandi and the Himalayan Forest Research Institute in Panthaghati.
On February 20, the team will visit the catchment area in Dhalli, the Himalayan Nature Park in Kufri, and the Eco Park in Craignano nature park in Mashobra. On February 21 and 22, they will inspect the project work in the forest divisions of Bilaspur and Sundernagar.
