Nepalese man arrested for murdering wife in Kotkhai
A Nepalese national has been arrested for murdering his wife in Badhon village, located in the Kotkhai area of Shimla district. The accused, identified as Jeet Bahadur, and the deceased, Deepa, were both working as labourers in the region.
The incident came to light on Sunday when a fellow Nepali labourer found Deepa lying unconscious in a shed owned by one Ram Dhani. He immediately informed a local resident, who in turn alerted the Kotkhai police station. A police team rushed to the spot and took Jeet Bahadur into custody, as he was present at the scene.
Shimla Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Rattan Negi confirmed the arrest and said a case has been registered against the accused under Section 103(1) of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
“The body of the deceased bore multiple injury marks and bruises, along with visible traces of dried blood,” ASP Negi said. He further revealed that during the preliminary investigation, the accused confessed to having had a physical altercation with his wife on May 31. “In a fit of rage, he assaulted her with a wooden stick, leading to her death on the spot,” he added.
The police have initiated a investigation and the body of the deceased has been sent for post-mortem examination.
