Sardar Patel University, Mandi, commenced its new academic session under the leadership of Vice-Chancellor Lalit Kumar Awasthi yesterday.

In a gathering at the university conference hall, Awasthi addressed both teaching and non-teaching staff.

He extended a warm welcome to all faculty and staff members, acknowledging their dedication and pivotal contribution to the university’s success.

He underscored the administration’s commitment to synergising efforts with the state government to achieve mutual objectives.

The collaboration aimed at leveraging state resources effectively, ensuring that the university continues to lead in educational excellence and innovation, he said.

Awasthi stressed the significance of fostering a stimulating, value-based teaching-learning environment conducive to holistic and multidisciplinary approaches. He introduced new initiatives, including the maintenance of comprehensive course files and accessibility of course materials.

All PhD students will now report to the Dean (Academic), streamlining administrative processes for better student support.

Awasthi emphasised the implementation of UGC guidelines for PhD programmes to enhance student employability post-graduation.

He directed the Dean (Research) to expedite formalities for national and international rankings, aiming to identify areas for teaching and research improvement.

The meeting, which was attended by deans, heads of departments, faculty members and non-teaching staff, concluded with a vote of thanks to the chair.
