A new medical block has been notified in Baddi, increasing the total to six medical blocks in Solan district. A Block Medical Officer (BMO) will now oversee healthcare facilities in Baddi, including the civil hospital, two public health centres in Sai and Baba Haripur, a community health centre at Barotiwala, and 18 health sub-centres across various villages like Gullarwala, Kunjhal, Swaraj Majra and others. This development is set to benefit the Doon Assembly segment significantly.

Solan Chief Medical Officer Dr Amit Talwar said this block had been created by bifurcating the Nalagarh block, forming a new administrative unit to better manage nearby healthcare institutions. Previously, the Chandi block catered to both Arki and Doon assembly segments, but Doon now has its independent block.

The industrial hubs of Baddi and Barotiwala, densely populated with migrant workers and local residents, will benefit from the streamlined healthcare services provided by this block. However, concerns remain regarding adequate medical staff postings, particularly as many staff commute from Chandigarh due to its proximity.

DoonMLA Ramkumar Chaudhary, expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu for establishing this medical block. He assured efforts would be made to upgrade the Civil Hospital Baddi into a 100-bedded facility, ensuring accessible treatment for residents at their doorsteps.

Despite the promising development, the block has not yet received financial support to set up its office. Officials anticipate the budget will be allocated in the next financial year.
