The complex, being built in the Brockhurst area of Chotta Shimla at a cost of Rs 45 lakh, is designed to offer professional training opportunities to young sports enthusiasts and reduce their need to travel to the Indira Gandhi Sports Complex at Mall Road.

It would feature multiple facilities, including a badminton court, table tennis, a gym and other sports amenities, allowing youngsters to sharpen their skills and prepare for state and national-level competitions. In addition, yoga and fitness classes would be offered to the public. The complex would also include parking space for approximately 20 vehicles.

Shimla Municipal Corporation Mayor Surinder Chauhan inspected the construction site and instructed workers to expedite the work. He also directed officials to ensure the quality of construction so that residents do not face any inconveniences after completion.

Speaking about the project, Mayor Chauhan described the complex as a gift for the youth and sports enthusiasts of Shimla, offering year-round opportunities to practice and play their favourite sports. He added it would serve as an alternative to the Indira Gandhi Sports Complex, particularly for youngsters living farther from The Mall, providing them access to world-class sports facilities.
