Newly constructed temple gutted in fire in Shimla

The temple was constructed at a cost of Rs 2.5 crore and its ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony was scheduled for next year

A three-storey temple of a local deity was gutted as a massive fire broke out in Rampur subdivision of Shimla.

No loss of life has been reported in the incident.

According to the district administration, the incident occurred on Sunday around 7.50 pm when the blaze started in the newly constructed temple of Jharu Nag Devta at Shaneri village.

The fire brigade, along with locals, tried to douse the fire but it was so intense that the entire temple was burnt to ashes. The fire was later put out by the fire department.

District administration officials said the exact cause of the fire and the losses incurred are being assessed.
