NIT-Hamirpur to host Shiksha Mahakumbh 6.0

The National Institute of Technology (NIT), Hamirpur, will host the sixth edition of Shiksha Mahakumbh, its Director Prof Hiralal Murlidhar Suryawanshi announced on Wednesday. He said the baton was successfully passed from NIPER-Mohali, Punjab, marking the formal transition of leadership for the upcoming edition.

“With this ceremony, Shiksha Mahakumbh 6.0 officially moves forward under the stewardship of NIT-Hamirpur, which is poised to host a transformative and collaborative platform for the future of education,” Suryawanshi said. “For NIT-Hamirpur, this baton is a promise to carry forward the mission with dedication. We are honoured to lead the 2026 edition and work towards an impactful, innovative and multi-stakeholder educational dialogue.”

The director added that the sixth edition will feature a year-long series of events and programmes across major institutions of Himachal Pradesh, including IIIT-Una, AIIMS-Bilaspur, IIT-Mandi, IIM-Sirmaur, the Indian Institute of Advanced Studies, the Central University of Himachal Pradesh and Sardar Patel University, Mandi.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Shamsher Singh, Manager, Department of Holistic Education, highlighted the vision, evolution and milestones of the Shiksha Mahakumbh Abhiyaan over its previous five editions. A digital documentary showcasing its journey was also presented.

Vijay Nadda, Organising Secretary, Vidya Bharati (North Zone), described Shiksha Mahakumbh as a platform that “turns ideas into action”. He said it brings together policymakers, educators and institutions to rethink the future of learning.
