'No confirmation' monkeypox patient visited Manali

Our Correspondent

Kullu, July 24

The news related to a monkeypox patient from Delhi travelling to Manali created a scare among the residents. However, the district health authorities said there was no confirmation about his visit. They said neither there was any concrete information from authentic sources nor there was any official communication regarding the matter. They said the health department was already on alert as per the guidelines of the state health department related to various epidemics in view of tourist season. People should not panic, they cautioned.

A Manali resident Harish said that such stories without authentic information cause a lot of unnecessary scare. He said social media had become very fast and people sometimes spread rumours without documented information unaware of its impact.
