No injury marks found on Negi’s body, says report
Vimal Negi, Chief Engineer, Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (HPPCL),had died around five days before conducting the postmortem. The postmortem report also revealed that there were no internal or external injuries on his body. However, the exact cause of his death is yet to be ascertained. The cause of death is kept pending till the reports of viscera preserved for chemical analysis and sternum bone for diatoms test is received.
Vimal Negi went missing on March 10 from Shimla and his body was found in a mutilated state in Gobindsagar Lake in Bilaspur on March 18. The body was brought to Shimla after conducting a post-mortem in All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bilaspur. As per the reports, on March 10 Negi took a private taxi to Bilaspur and was last spotted in Ghumarwin in Bilaspur. As per the post-mortem report, Negi might have died around March 12 or 13.
The mysterious death of Negi made waves across the state after his family members made serious allegations against Harikesh Meena, Managing Director, HPPCL as well as Desh Raj, Director (Electrical), HPPCL and demanded a CBI probe into the matter. The family alleged that Negi was being harassed by the senior officers and was made to work for long hours. They further alleged that Negi was also being pressured to do wrong deeds.
The family along with the employees of HPPCL also staged a protest in front of Bishop Cotton School, Shimla, with the dead body of Negi and called off the protest after an FIR of abetment to suicide as well as assurance of investigation was made by the state government.
On the same day, the state government ordered an in-depth inquiry by Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) Onkar Sharma, besides suspending Desh Raj.
