A revenue sub tehsil office notified by the state government at Raja ka Talab in Fatehpur subdivision of Kangra district six months ago is yet to be made functional.

The administration is yet to select a building for the sub tehsil office. Resentment is brewing among local residents for the delay in the office to start functioning, as they have to travel to the Fatehpur tehsil office even for petty revenue or other miscellaneous works.

On persistent public demand, Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur had announced a sub tehsil at Raja Ka Talab while addressing a public gathering at Rehan on March 3 last year.

The government had issued a notification in April last year creating Raja ka Talab as a new sub tehsil by incorporating the surrounding eight revenue patwar circles in it.

On the direction of the Deputy Commissioner, Kangra, the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Fatehpur, had inspected a government building at Raja ka Talab over five months ago, raising the hopes that the sub tehsil office would start functioning soon but the government neither posted a revenue officer or supporting staff nor finalised a building for the purpose.

The elected representatives of Chakbari, Dakk, Nerna, Larth, Dasoli, Kher, Golwan and Gurial panchayats have appealed to the Chief Minister to ensure that his public announcement of a sub tehsil office at Raja ka Talab sub tehsil is implemented.

They say that Raja ka Talab is the central point of Fatehpur, Jawali and Nurpur subdivisions and a sub tehsil office there is a longstanding demand of the people of the area.

Ankush Sharma, SDM, Fatehpur, says that he has inspected the premises of the Deputy Commissioner, Relief and Rehabilitation, Raja ka Talab, for identifying a building for the sub tehsil office but so far no decision has been taken.
