The state government has no plan to close down Sardar Patel University in Mandi and former Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur should refrain from misleading people on the issue, said Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu here today.

Sukhu, while talking to mediapersons at Nadaun in the district, said that only a few constituencies in Mandi district had witnessed development during the tenure of the previous BJP government. He added that during his tenure as Chief Minister, Thakur had done nothing for Mandi and development was concentrated in some constituencies of his choice while the rest of the state was ignored.

He said that the former Chief Minister had nothing to speak as the Budget presented recently assured people of uniform development across the state. He added that the lease of the helicopter taken by the previous BJP government had expired and the department concerned had started the process to get a new helicopter.

The Chief Minister said that Thakur claimed that the state government had raised Rs 6,000 crore loan in its 100 days of rule. The loan was taken to meet liabilities that the previous BJP government had not honoured, he added.
