The persistent rain in Barsar subdivision flooded a house with muck and developed cracks in the building. The owner of the house, Madan Lal, who lives in Khariayan village in Barsar gram panchayat, said he was running from pillar to post to seek relief, but all his requests had turned futile.
He said there was a nullah flowing about 100 metres behind his house. Due to the recent rain, the land near the nullah developed cracks, and the water from there started flowing towards his house. This also resulted in a landslide near his house. The water from the nullah and muck of the landslide flooded his house. A rock had also fallen on the roof, which developed cracks in the building, making it dangerous for him to live in the house.
Sewa Ram, pradhan of the panchayat, said the land between the house of Madan Lal and the nullah was owned by someone else. He said the panchyat had decided to construct a retention wall to stop the water from flowing towards the house of Madan Lal, but it was impossible without the consent of the land owner. He said the SDM had visited the site and directed to construct the retention wall to block the flow of the water to the house.
Pardeep Kumar, SDM, Barsar, said, “I have visited the site and advised the authorities accordingly after the consent of both parties. A retention wall will be constructed soon to protect the house of Madan Lal.”
