No to drugs: SJVN holds ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat’ mini-marathon

The SJVN began its 38th Raising Day celebrations with a mini-marathon on the theme ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat – Swasth Bharat’, aimed at promoting the national cause of a drug-free and healthy India. The event organised by the SJVN Corporate Headquarters at Shimla was intended at spreading awareness on cleanliness as part of ongoing Swachhta Pakhwada being observed by the SJVN from May 16 to 31 across its offices nationwide.

The mini-marathon was flagged off by Ajay Kumar Sharma, Director (Personnel), SJVN, in the presence of senior officials.

Addressing a gathering, Sharma expressed his appreciation for the enthusiastic participation in the mini-marathon and highlighted the importance of adopting a healthy and drug-free lifestyle. He encouraged all employees and their families to continue embracing wellness and contribute actively to the vision of a ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat – Swasth Bharat’.

To ensure inclusive participation, the event was organised in nine different categories across various age groups for men, women, and children.

The marathon took a scenic route starting from Chhota Shimla, passing through the iconic Mall Road and Chaura Maidan before culminating at Hotel Peterhof. Besides the mini-marathon, a range of fun games were also organised, infusing the day with festivity. The event concluded with prize distribution ceremony.

Swachhta Pakhwada begins at SJVN projects

The Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVN) has marked the commencement of Swachhta Pakhwada 2025 across all its projects and offices by administering a Swachhta pledge to employees.

A series of cleanliness and awareness activities have been planned throughout the fortnight from May 16 to 31. The Swachhta pledge was administered by Bhupender Gupta, Chief Managing Director (CMD), SJVN, reaffirming the organisation’’s unwavering commitment to a clean and green environment. Ajay Kumar Sharma, Director (Personnel), and Pawan Varma, Executive Director (HR), along with other senior officials, were also present on the occasion.

Gupta emphasised the vital role of individual responsibility in maintaining a clean and healthy environment. He urged the employees to take proactive steps in supporting cleanliness initiatives, not only at the workplace but also in surrounding communities. Through these initiatives, SJVN reaffirms its strong commitment to foster a culture of cleanliness and sustainability, he added. At other project locations, the respective heads administered the oath.

In line with the directives of the Union Ministry of Power, the SJVN has been organising Swachhta Pakhwada every year since 2016.

Swachhta Pakhwada Action Plan 2025 includes cleanliness drives at prominent public locations, maintenance of girl toilets in schools, ‘shramdan’ by employees in surrounding areas and special awareness campaigns to discourage plastic use and promote eco-friendly alternatives.
