Shimla, June 16
The Himachal Pradesh High Court has issued notices to the Secretary and Director (Transport), Managing Director of Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) on a petition highlighting the issue of illegal plying of interstate private buses.
While issuing notices, a division bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Sabina and Justice Satyen Vaidya further directed the state authorities to file their replies and listed the matter for further hearing on July 22.
The court passed this order on a petition filed by Himachal Transport Employees Joint Corporation Committee alleging therein that the state authorities have failed to check illegal operations of the private buses, which on one hand is causing loss to the HRTC and on the other is causing a heavy loss to the public exchequer.
It was contended on behalf of the petitioner that on account of such illegal operations of interstate private buses in the state, the HRTC is suffering huge losses and which, in turn, is affecting the employees of the HRTC who are not even getting salaries and retrial benefits in time.
