Now, DRGMCH offers dental implant facility
Hamiprur, July 1
The Department of Dentistry at Dr Radhakrishanan Government Medical College and Hospital (DRGMCH) started a dental implant facility for missing or lost teeth here on the occasion of National Doctor’s Day today. Dr Anupriya Sharma, Associate Professor, Dentistry, said this was the first-of-its-kind facility in the state in government hospitals.
She said the department was equipped with the latest machinery and specialists for placement of dental implants. She said the facility would be available for at least five times less cost to the patients as compared to private facilities.
She said the procedure would follow standardised sterilisation and infection control protocol. She said a dental implant was a tooth-root replacement in which a titanium screw is placed as an artificial tooth root in the jaws. She said it is fixed in the jaws to integrate with the jawbone for three months and then crown of the tooth is attached over it after a period of three to six months. — OC
